Since the packaging/design is the first thing you see, I’ll start with that. And what I want to say is how cool and totally unique it is designed.
The casing of the lipstick is decorated with studs all the way around and topped with her monogram on the case as well as the bullet.
Apparently kat designed it this way to resemble one of her favourite bracelets.
Is it difficult to apply?
Application is quite easy and simple. The applicator is precise enough to apply the product in the corners of the mouth and cover the lips evenly but that’s after I’ve moisturized otherwise I find it a little bumpy thanks to my chapped skin.
If you don’t have much problems with dryness then it’s pretty quick.
I also find a lip brush to apply easily probably all thanks to the creamy texture.
When you are applying it, the texture is a little thin and feels like it has some liquid to it however it then dries up quite quickly to a matte velvety appearance on the lip.
Another great thing about this lip colour is that it lasts a decent amount of time, I wouldn’t say forever, but just enough to wear on outings and get back without major colour loss as luckily it gradually fades so it appears more natural.
If you have dry lips then it could leave patches if you haven’t moisturised well beforehand!
The lastage is around 6-7 hours.
Be careful though as it does transfer onto clothing especially if it’s a bright shade. I would say it lasts how an average lipstick would.
How moisturizing is it?
My lips are usually quite dry more so in the winter, so you could imagine how a lip colour could turn out if it’s not moisturizing enough.
With the Kat Von D studded lipstick I found it didn’t add to my dryness but I was hoping it would be a little more moisturising.
I feel like the product works best if you prep your lips beforehand. It looked much more smoother and soft compared to no prep.
So how moisturizing was it?
Errm, I would give it a 7/10 compared to other lipsticks I’ve tried.
The shade range is well over 20 and guess what, you also have the option of picking lipsticks in 3 different finishes, satin matte, glimmer and metallic.
There are a variety of shades such as your classic reds, strong berries and neutrals so they definitely have something for everyone.
My favourite shades at the moment are ‘love craft’ which is a mauve pink colour and ‘vampira’, a deep reddish burgundy shade as well as a few others which I have yet to try. They both are satin mattes.
Another thing which I find cool about this lipstick is that you can purchase a completely white shade called ‘white out’.
Kat Von D created it as a mixer so basically you mix and create your own shades, customizable lipstick.
So would I buy it again? Is the question
Errm,I think I would first purchase the colours I have yet to try and then base it off that but at the moment I’d say I would, but when my lips are the least driest.
