I unhesitatingly brought the elf eyeliner pencil more specifically the satin one, a while back mainly due to the price but I was sure there had to be more than that. And I was right.
So in this review I’m going to go through the things I found cool about this pencil and the not so cool side.
Bear in mind this is quite a low priced eyeliner, so don’t be surprised if anything isn’t as expected. Read on to find out what this product is really about!
Before I start yapping about this product, I’d like to just quickly go over the basic description of it.
E.l.f eyeliner is a creamy textured pencil which can be used on top or bottom lash line. Of course the word satin isn’t part of the products name for no reason, as you are supposed to be left with a smooth satin finish.
Quick overview:
Pros
- Smooth application
- Great colour range
- Good pigmentation
- Handy sharpener
Cons
- Not as long lasting
Let’s begin the real talk.
Where there any problems?
I’m going to switch this around a little by starting with what I didn’t really like (get it over and done with) then going onto the pros of this product.
Okay I’m going to be honest, I wasn’t too impressed (but did expect it) with how long it stayed on my lash line mainly the bottom one.
I’d put it on then look after a while it had crumbled down so I had to keep reapplying it. However, this was without me wearing any concealer or other product under my eye.
But don’t let this be a major hold back of purchasing it as by wearing a concealer the lastage was pretty manageable.
And guess what? With the top eyelid it wasn’t much of a problem ( yes I like using pencil for my top lid when I’m not going out) mainly thanks to the eyeshadow primer but without it wasn’t a trouble either.
Was it smooth?
When a product states ‘glides smoothly’ I get a little excited to try it on because who doesn’t want their application to be this easy daily or whenever you apply it. Am I right?
To answer this question, I can say that it did run along nice and smoothly without my eyelid being dragged (that’s a problem for me with some eyeliners) and didn’t leave any lumps or clumps. It made my eyeliner come out nice and straight.
Colour range
I’d like to add the colour range into the good things about this eyeliner for me and I’m sure many others.
The range is lined with a bunch of perfectly coloured pencils. The few colours that can be chosen are blue, green, a white nude colour and a purply violet.
I’m not able to speak about the other colours but the black and blue, which is a dark navy shade are pretty decent looking on the eyes and pop out well.
They are pigmented pencils (alliteration ?) after all. The blue gives off a nice shimmery look to your eyelid. I should get the other colours as well, they’ll go nicely with the outfits.
Extra useful
You know what’s useful and great about this eyeliner? It’s that it comes with a sharpener with the top.
I’ve lost many sharpeners before which means I’m often using blunt pencils, making my eyeliners on my eyes extra thick, resembling eyeshadows sometimes.
But since I got this those days are of the past now hopefully as this comes with the lid you are far less likely to end up losing them if you are like me but not just that you can use it to sharpen other pencils (not coloured crayons or pencils).
I use the sharpener to sharpen most my other pencils. So when the eyeliner pencil is long gone I’ve still got a piece of it to remember if I don’t lose that too (or break it).
So there you have it peeps the good and the bad. And I’d like to say that I would purchase this product again and no not just because of the price but because of the other colours left to try and the overall experience. I’m telling you it was pretty cool for the price it comes at.

My other half has allergic reactions to some make ups so this is a really useful review to see what your thougths are on this as a tried and tested product. You obviously have lots of experience in this field so I look forward to checking back next time I need some pointers on what products out there would be suitable. Many Thanks
Sariyah
Aw your welcome and happy I am a help! but be sure to check and test every new product beforehand to avoid reactions though!
See you soon!

Eyeliners are quite difficult to use. I remember putting makeup on my partner. When it came to using the eyeliner, I really struggled to put it on her. I wonder how you do it. I will be sure to share it with her. I know that she has been looking for new makeup as her old ones are finished. Thank you for this

Hey Daniel thanks for the comment!
We all struggle at first, practice basically makes perfect. As you keep doing it, you’ll become a pro in no time!
