Inika organic perfection concealer – How perfecting is it?

Inika organic perfection concealerI haven’t tried many of inika’s products but the one or two that I have, gave me positive experiences so I thought why not give another of their products a try, to be specific, the inika organic perfection concealer!

I was on the look out for a vegan concealer that also catered towards sensitive skin when the brand inika popped up.

What attracted me even more to this brand is the idea of them using as much botanical and pure ingredients as possible. Who doesn’t like that?

Okay enough of that, let’s start the review!

But first a quick overview:

  • Organic & 100% natural ingredients
  • Easy to blend
  • Able to conceal minor imperfections well
  • No cakiness
  • Lightweight

  • Very limited shade range

If I had to pick just one favourite feature about this concealer, it would definitely be the ingredients.

This product isn’t only vegan and cruelty-free but also organic too! Inika strive to only use 100% natural ingredients, testing each for safety and purity.

The inika organic concealer is formulated with Shea butter, jojoba seed oil, green tea leaf extract and aloe vera, which are known for their soothing and moisturizing properties.

I think they did a great job with the formula, not only did I accept it but I also got the approval from my skin, which is sensitive so usually finding the correct product which doesn’t cause my skin to react can be tricky.

Shade range

The shade range is what disappointed me a little, with only 3 shades, light, medium and very light, it isn’t diverse at all.

The inika foundation only has a couple more shades than the concealer. It would have been a bit better if the concealer too can have a few extra shades.

I currently use the shade medium but I find when the season changes it doesn’t fit with my skin well so I have to mix concealers from other brands which doesn’t feel nice especially after you’ve paid that much.

It’s a shame the shade range is so small because I absolutely love the formula.

I usually apply my concealer with my finger tips more often than a concealer brush as it melts right in due to the warmth of the skin but when I’m topping it up with a foundation as well then a brush is the right choice.

I dot the formula in the places where I need coverage and then blend.

I find it is easy to blend whether you are using your fingers, sponge or brush, no dragging is required.

Probably the best option for me is using my fingers as the brush soaks in most of the product then what actually goes on the skin or maybe that’s a sign that I need to change my brushes.

Applying it is also simple and effortless. The packaging dispenses the right amount of product but be careful not to over squeeze otherwise you’d end up with more product then you requested.

Light or heavyweight?

Inika state ‘ this nourishing concealer is a light-weight texture’ but just declaring isn’t of course convincing enough to me. So you know what you do? Yes test it yourselves!

I wasn’t too sure in what to expect in weight wise as it doesn’t say anywhere whether this concealer provides a light or heavy coverage.

Usually a full coverage formula wouldn’t surprise me if it has a heavy feeling but a light or medium coverage product almost certainly would.

So how did I find it? Well when I first opened it, it appeared a little gloopy but then after a while it became a thin consistency.

I think this change was due to where I had stored it, a cooler temperature makes it less runny when you first pour some out.

Inika organic perfection concealer
Originally it is a thin liquid texture.

When applied to the face it is lightweight indeed, able to cover minor imperfections such as redness, spots and under eye circles.

If you want to cover up other imperfections then usually applying a colour corrector underneath would give that extra coverage you need.

Though I do believe this concealer maybe able to provide enough coverage on its own.

Whilst wearing this concealer I didn’t experience any caking nor creasing, so that’s a thumbs up!

I use this concealer to cover my redness and sometimes uneven skin tone and it does fine.

Overall I’d give this concealer an 8/10! The formula is it’s strongest point, the shade range being the weakest.

It does for sure conceal minor imperfections easily however if you require more coverage then extra products are needed.

The texture of this concealer is to my liking, being light and a not too thick consistency.

I also love that it’s suitable for a range of skin types with sensitive definitely being in the list.
